Most of the time I feel like I am caught in the flow of current trends and events. History happens around me as I observe it and am caught in it. But if I am made for this time in history, and my skills, talents, experiences and Spirit are God’s preparation for me to live in 2014, I look at myself and this New Year with confident expectation.

I’ve admired that confidence in athletes whose swagger communicates they are winners. The source of their confidence might be self-centered making them arrogant. But if I understand God’s process in me, confidence and humility are great partners. No one ever accused me of being arrogant. Maybe that is because I doubted my own significance—God’s work in me. To futuredoubt myself is to doubt God’s ability and desire to use me. So, I’m gonna take a tip from Winston and seek to make a difference and write history. In a some way I will change the world.

Who knows? God might use me in a big way. God does. Same truth applies to you!
